What would you do if you accidentally killed someone?

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Guys, no spamming in Deep Discussion. As funny as I found that comment to be initially, that is a pretty hard rule here. So please stop.

I'd only turn myself in if I knew a camera or a witness saw me. If I could just get away with it I would. I can't say I wouldn't be horribly guilt ridden.

Here's something to shake things up, what if you accidentally killed a child?

Obviously you can never know what you'd do until it happened considering all the emotions that stem from something like that, but I think I would be honest. Ring the police, tell them what happened as I saw it, and then suffer whatever consequences came from it.
This still applies, although accidentally killing a child would probably weigh on my conscience a lot more. As cold as it sounds, for whatever reason I feel like I could move on from accidentally killing an adult, but I don't think I would ever be able to get over ending a child's life through my own reckless actions.

All this being said, it's hard for me to actually weigh up what I would truly do in this situation because I can safely say it would never happen. I don't drive, but if I did, I can't see myself ever speeding, unless I wasn't aware of the speed limit somehow.

I understand your logic. Killing in adult, they've had a chance to live their life to its fullest, so while you'd definitely feel remorse for accidentally killing an adult, they at least had the opportunity to live their life to its fullest. Killing a child is different because they have not and there is still so much they could have experienced that you took away from them.

I'm an adult, admittedly not a very old one, and I sure as heck haven't experienced much.

You could also argue the opposite, that it's "better" to kill a child because they haven't been able to live as much, and thus don't have as much to leave behind in life.

As for what I'd do, I'd probably just break down. I don't think I could live in prison, but I also couldn't live properly with that kind of guilt on me, and the paranoia of being caught. I'd probably just end my own life in a state of panic.

Honestly, I would still go out of my way to cover it up, unless a camera picked it up, in that case I have no choice but to turn myself in as I mentioned in my previous post. In both situations, the level of guilt I would feel would be immeasurable.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Unless it was someone I knew then I don't think I'd care all that much about what sort of person died honestly. Me and humans don't mix.

Actually thinking further in to it due to my lack of empathy a court case would be hell for me, they could easily pin me down as some kind of psychopath. Wouldn't be able to fake extreme guilt or anything like that.
I'm the sort of person the tabloids would probably deem a "monster" because of my lack of an emotional response so things would not go well. It'd be like how the public turn on the husband in the movie Gone Girl.

In which case, I'd probably just run for it and hope for the best.

Not sure how guilty I'd feel.
Personally I have more sympathy for non human animals, hitting a deer would probably mess me up weirdly enough.

I would definitely be honest and call the police.
For one manslaughter is an awful lot better than the other charges you could get if you try to evade it.
And for another turning yourself in may end up with giving you some leniency if there is clearly no risk you pose to others.

It depends on how the accidental death has occurred. I'd probably be majorly depressed if I was in that situation, can't really imagine it.

If he is still alive I would try to rescue him. If he is dead already I would just leave him there. Go home. Clean my car like crazy. And stay under the radar.

I'd turn myself in, it would be even harder for me to live with myself if I didn't. By admitting I did it I would at least have some relief.

I would just leave. If they are alive, I don't have the patience to stick around until they come to. If they are dead, then oh well.

Killing an animal would have more of an emotional impact on me. The lack of sympathy over the person's accidental death would probably look bad if I ever got caught though.
